Hello, My name is Andy. I enjoy living in little Fredericksburg Texas, "the Jewel of the Hill Country". I first encountered an article about Lyle Behl bringing home Icelandics. I began pursuing getting eggs from Lyle and in time was looking at my first little hatchlings. Later I received eggs from Mary Obrien, out of RALA hens and roos from the Flatey region. After these I received eggs from Kathy in Mo which were directly related to Mary's RALA-Flatey line. After this I received eggs from Shannon Frerick that were descended from birds passed down in his family since the 1800's. I keep all lines strictly separated for preservation purposes. It is my goal to accurately document lineage, pursue knowledge of genetics, and have fun preserving this farm fowl descended from birds brought to Iceland as far back as 867 AD. It has been alluded that these chickens are genetically distinct from any other domesticated fowl. I would like to document this. The unique connection between the people of Iceland, their farms, their livestock and their heritage is a huge draw for me on this breed. I invite all who have interest to join me in this journey! Andy in Fredericksburg
